It all started from a small fire which was reported by TV commentator John Helm, but before anything could have been done, the fire spread throughout the whole stand within five minutes.
Following the mishap, an inquiry committee chaired by Sir Oliver Popplewell brought new measures to improve safety standards at football grounds in the United Kingdom which included the banning of new wooden stands.
The Football Association posted a special message on their website while remembering the 1985 Bradford City stadium disaster.
“The Football Association sends its sincere condolences to those families and friends affected by the tragedy. Today, 29 years on, we remember that day,” they wrote.
