This icon will not appear if you are not friends with them. Instead, click the button that says Unfollow.
You can also choose to unfollow someone from this menu instead of snoozing them for 30 days by selecting Unfollow. This stops their posts permanently from appearing on your news feed.
You will no longer see their posts, and may not be able to view their timeline, depending on their privacy settings.
